For our first episode back in almost a year, Christine Torres Emmet and Jamie Johnson discuss, “Youth in Crisis,” with Anna Currie for the newest episode of Growing Leaders Podcast. Anna is the Middle East Director for Boy With A Ball and is located in Beirut, Lebanon in the midst of conflict. In Lebanon, there’s a Refugee and Internally Displaced People Crisis. Among them are millions of young people having their education and future disrupted as they’re made to leave their homes, as they leave their lives behind, and as schools are being converted from educational facilities to shelters. This gives Anna the unique opportunity to walk alongside young people in the midst of crisis and to help them connect to vision and purpose for their lives.
“[God] said, it’s different to arrive after a crisis than to walk with people through a crisis,” Anna shared in episode 31. With conflict ongoing and a lack of many government functions, Anna’s journey to start a Boy With A Ball team in Lebanon has been different from most. The situation is constantly shifting but Anna’s purpose is not, “How it happens might change slightly, but the mission hasn’t changed”. The mission is simple: responding to God’s call to reach young people.
